Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

Okay, so at first, I did not like what this judge was saying, because there are teenagers out there who do not have anywhere to go, and who need help. I then reread it, and I realized that he was talking about the people who think that the world owes them everything. A lot of kids these days believe that anything they want to do should be served to them on a silver platter. They believe that they are entitled to whatever job they want, regardless of the more qualified person who worked hard to get where they are.

Sadly, a lot of teenagers like this grow up, and become adults. The problem is that they still think that everyone owes them, so they go through their entire lives thinking so highly of themselves. They are the crybabies mentioned in the article above, but they stay crybabies forever.

This is why we need to start educating teenagers, and telling them that they are not entitled to, well, anything. They need to learn that success comes from hard work. That is exactly what my dad teaches me, that I need to work hard and try hard for what I want to accomplish.

Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted it, I should be able to use it."

This statement is very controversial, which means it is kind of hard for me to decide. There are two sides to every argument, and I can see where both are coming from.

On one hand, I think that if you post something on the internet, and make it visible to the public, then you shouldn't care if people use it or not. But on the other hand, I would feel totally weird and "creeped out" if someone used a random profile picture of me for anything. So I guess that my happy medium is that I believe it is okay to use someone's picture if it is not personal, and if it would make sense to the owner of the picture, and to the person using it, why it was being used.

THIS is an okay picture to use, because someone obviously took it so that other people would see it and show it to their friends. But make sure that the owner is okay with it before you use it.

Something like this (a profile picture, or a personal picture) is not acceptable to use. There is no justifiable reason to use a random person's personal picture, especially if you don't know them. If you do know them, and they're okay with it, then that's a little bit more reasonable.

"Tell me a little bit about yourself and your life here at BVHS. What activities or clubs are you involved in? What year are you in school? What is your favorite class and/or teacher so far this year? What are you looking forward to this school year? Include some original photos from your phone if you can."

I have two brothers, Jack an Joe, who are my same age. We're triplets. I also have a dog named Truman, who is a little crazy. This is our first year at BVHS, and we came from SMA (St. Michael). I do cross country, basketball, and soccer here at Blue Valley, but no clubs. I may do some clubs next year, but right now I'm still getting used to the school, and I think it's good to have some down time; between sports and homework. My favorite class is either Web Design or Media/ Pop Culture, I just can't decide. My favorite teacher is Mrs. Kline, from Biology, because she is really funny, but at the same time still teaches us things.

This year at school I am looking forward to this class, as well as the dances. I'm hoping to meet some new people, since I left most of my friends to come to this school.
My friend, Lexi, and I.

I am super excited to start at a new school and make new friends, but still stay in touch with my old friends. I hope that Blue Valley is good for me, and I hope that I have a lot of great memories!

"What do you know about Web Design right now? What did you know about Web Design before you walked in to this class? Tell me as much as you can about how web pages work. Try to use an example if possible."

Before this class I knew nothing about web design; not a single thing. I still don't know much about it right now, but I am learning about it, and i think it is something I am interested in. I have just previously learning (in this class) that there is a lot more to blogs and web pages than meets the eye. Tons of work goes into coding web pages. This fascinates me, because the fact that a bunch of numbers, letters, and symbols can be combined to make a design is awesome!

This is a very cool blog design, made up entirely of code; which is super awesome!
