Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!

This weekend I did not go to the Homecoming dance, but I did go to the football game. It was really fun, and I'm glad that Gabby Gunnerson won Homecoming queen, because she's on cross country with me, and she's very nice. At the football game, cross country ran the ball in, which I guess what kind of cool, it didn't really seem like a big deal. I invited my friend from St.James to the football game, and she had a lot of fun as well.

Then on Saturday my family cleaned the house, and we were going to go to Costco to get new phones, but they don't support our carrier at this specific Costco location, so we couldn't get them in the store. So the my mom waited until 9:30pm last night, and then we couldn't log in to the website to order the phones. Long story short, we still don't have new phones, or even ordered new phones.

Also on Saturday we rearranged the furniture on the deck, and Truman really likes the new rug.

On Sunday I didn't do much of anything, and that was my weekend!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting? Share photos!

This weekend I did absolutely nothing. I was going to go to the Plaza Art Fair with my aunt, and bring my dog, but it didn't work out, which was too bad. Sadly, yesterday was the last day of the fair, so I have to wait until next year to go.

Also this weekend, I watched a movie on Saturday night with my friends, like I always do. This Saturday it was hard to pick a movie to watch, because one of my friends was being difficult, and not wanting to watch anything but sci-fi. So we ended up watching something called A Long Way Down, which was a drama, I guess. I don't think it was very good, but it didn't matter because all we did was talk throughout the length of the movie.

On Sunday, I didn't do anything but lay on the couch all day watching new episodes of New Girl on Netflix.
And that was my weekend!

Blog Post of the Day:
Now that you are several weeks in to this class and have coded one (super small) website, what do you think? What are your thoughts on web design? Is it what you thought it would be? Is it better? Worse? What's your favorite part? What's your least favorite part? Explain.

I like this class, even though it's not exactly what I thought it would be. I expected it to be something more like layout and graphic design, more how to design the layout of website with pre-planned code. But what I'm learning now is so much better, and is so much more useful. I have always thought web design was cool, because I've always loved technology. Also, I'm not very good at drawing, so when you can design something without drawing it, but still making it unique, it's pretty cool.

My favorite part of this class is probably the blogs at the beginning of the day. Even though we're learning how to code a website, and how to make one, we're also learning how to write on one.

Blog Post of the Day:
What is the importance of deadlines? How do high school deadlines reflect or simulate "real world" experience? Give an example of when you met or or didn't meet a deadline that was important.

Deadlines are really important, because if you never have to meet any deadlines, then you never feel like you have any obligation to get the work done. You can just take forever to do it, or not do it at all. High school deadlines simulate a real world experience because if you don't get your work turned in on time, you are penalized.

An example of when I failed to me a deadline for an assignment was in 8th grade. We used to have to do these online math courses called BAIPs. Apparently I totally forgot to do them, even though my friends and brothers were doing them, I didn't even remember to do one. Long story short, I got an absolutely awful grade, and it took me the rest of the year to get that grade up to an A.

Blog Post of the Day:
Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.

Times in my life where this quote apply are whenever I decide not to study enough for a test, or something like that. Or even if you decide not to stretch before you workout or play a sport. If you don't prepare the correct way for anything in life, you will not do as well as you could if you did prepare. It doesn't mean that you won't pass, or that you won't still play well in you game, but you won't ever do the best that you can do.

I also like this quote because it is basically taking the first sentence, switching it around, and making it another sentence, that still makes sense. That's cool.

What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

This weekend, I didn't do much of anything, because I was sick almost the entire time. I did go to work on Sunday, but only for a few hours. I had my friends over on Saturday night to watch Divergent, because I hadn't seen it yet.

All was going well, until my dog got a napkin off of the counter, and then ran under the couch to eat it. I reached under there to grab the napkin, and I heard this deep growl. It scared me a little, but made me think that since he growled, I had to get the napkin from him. I reached under the couch again, and Truman bit me. It was not a play bite, it was a real bite. And it hurt; a lot. I bled from my knuckle, and had to pause the movie to go clean it and put a band-aid on it. Truman was in big trouble, and stayed in the laundry room for the rest of the night.
I also took some selfies with Truman when he was sleeping.

That was my weekend!

Blog Post of the Day:

Below is one of my favorite quotes that I found on Pinterest. Think read and think about what this says and then blog about it. What does this quote mean to you? Elaborate! Feel free to give an example of tell a story.

This is also one of my favorite quotes, I saw a GIF on Pinterest of it, and I thought it was so interesting. The GIF is a father telling it to his kids. At first I thought it was so weird that a father was being so curt with his kids, so I searched farther into it. I found a couple more quotes from this guy, who it turns out also has a book. I haven't read the book, yet, but I am planning on it.

My favorite part of this quote is when he says "none percent", because that just makes me smile. This quote is so full of wisdom and is so perfectly phrased, because without that little "none percent", it would seem just too good to be true. To me, "none percent" makes it sound as though now it's coming from a real human being, instead of a person with perfect grammar, who studies stuff like this all day, every day.

Blog Post of the Day:
How do you express your creativity? Explain.

I'd say I express my creativity through art. I love to make canvas art, with quotes and magazine cutouts. It is always a really fun thing to be able to take time to sit down and make a collage. Usually for my friends' birthdays I make them a canvas or two with a quote or something.

Recently, I made this for my friend Julie, as well as another collage that I didn't take a picture of. For this one, I cut out old book pages and pasted them onto a blank canvas, Then I just took some black letter and glued them on as well. It looks a little funny here because the glue was still drying...

Blog Post of the Day:
What did you do this weekend? Share pictures if you have them!

This weekend I went shopping with my friends, I went to work, and I took my dog to a dog-swim-thingy...

Shopping was really fun, because I went into a store I've never been to (which it turned out I loved), and got some Starbucks with my friends. I got a few compliments on my shirt, which said, "I only date lead singers".

Yesterday I also had to go work. but only for 3.5 hours. I work for my Dad, who owns some empty house lots in Gardner, Kansas. He has my brothers and I mow and weed eat them, which is not fun.
Before we had to go mowing yesterday, my brother, mom and I took our dog to a "Doggie Duathlon"at the JCC. Since they're closing their pool, they invited anyone to bring their dogs to swim in the pool before they drained it. This was the first time my dog has ever gone swimming, so it was an experience.
Sadly, my mom took all the photos and videos of Truman swimming on her phone, and I didn't send them to myself yet. I do have the information sheet that we saw the night before, and made a snap decision to go after church the next morning. And that was my weekend!

Blog post of the Day:

Kids these days are so different from when I was growing up. Everyone has these things called cell phones, that they spent all of their time on. Cell phones first came out when my kids were grown, and they were these giant blocks that you held up to your head. The big difference between these cell phones and modern cell phones is that on the first cell phones, all you could do was talk. No games, no texting; only calling.

Another thing  that is different from when I was growing up is just all of the technology in general. There are iPads, iPhones, laptops, etc. We didn't even have internet until I was way older!

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about what you have learned in this class so far. Have you learned a lot? Do you want to learn more? What do you want to be able to do by the end of the semester?

So far in this class, I have learned some basic coding, and how to use that. I tried to teach myself coding earlier this year (before I knew anything about this class), but I didn't have anything to use it on, so I forgot it. The good thing about this class is that you teach us coding, but we also have to understand it, and be able to apply it to our own website.

I also learned a bit about how to use blogger, and how to set up a pre-made blog. I'm sure that I will learn a lot more before the class is over.

The one thing that I would love to learn in this class is how to code, but one or two levels past the basics. I would love to be able to tell people that I know that, "Yeah, I know how to code." Doesn't that sound cool?! I could be all sly about it, and make no big deal, but they would be so surprised. That would be awesome.

Anyway, I would love to learn how to code well, which I think that I will. I'm looking forward to this class (a lot), and I'm even enjoying all this setting up stuff that we have to do.

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me all about your Labor Day weekend. What did you do? Include photos!

This weekend I hung out with my friends, and we watched Mean Girls for the thousandth time. It was really good to see them again, because I didn't talk to them at all last week.

I went on a lot of walks with my dog, because I didn't really have anything better to do. Not that I don't like walking him, but it was pretty hot outside. I felt good when I was finished, though, because he seemed really happy.

Truman also enjoys cuddling slippers.

I also went golfing with my dad, which was good, because I haven't been in a couple of weeks. Everything was going great, I was getting one or two above par (which is good for me) on every hole, but then some people let us pass them, which means that I had to hit in front of them. Now on a regular basis this wouldn't be a big deal, but they were talking and laughing, while watching me really closely. Now because of that, I hit an absolutely awful drive, and everything went downhill from there.
But it was still good to golf again, even if my score wasn't great.

While at the country club where we golf, I was waiting for my dad to finish showering, and there was a wedding! It was really fun to watch the reception, because the color theme was really cute, and it was a great ending to a not so great golf game.
